Workshop 2 at CITEVE: Advancing towards concrete textile solutions
The second UPWEARS project workshop was held in January 2026 at CITEVE (Portugal), marking a key milestone in the project’s progression from conceptual development to practical implementation. Bringing together partners from across the consortium, this hands-on session focused on translating bio-inspired design, circular approaches and digital tools into concrete textile manufacturing solutions.
As leader of WP4 on sustainable e-textile design and production, CITEVE plays a central role in developing and integrating innovative bio-based textiles within the project. Its work spans from hybrid fabrics and sensor integration to the design and prototyping of the project’s flagship demonstrator—a smart and sustainable cross-country biking suit. Hosting the workshop within its facilities provided a unique opportunity to connect these developments with real industrial processes.
